Colorado Rehabilitation & Occupational Medicine (CROM) was founded in 1992 by J. Tashof Bernton, MD and Scott Primack, DO with a vision of returning patients who suffer from impaired physical functioning to a normal, happy life. Today, CROM has become Colorado’s most complete physiatry practice, offering patients the largest spectrum of treatment options within one practice. CROM has multiple clinics in Denver, and providers of various specialties to treat neuro-musculoskeletal pain.

CROM’s physicians are primarily Rehabilitation Doctors, or “Physiatrists” meaning they hold Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation”.  This medical specialty treats musculoskeletal and neurological conditions non-surgically. Among many conditions that CROM treats are back pain and spinal cord injuries, shoulder pain and rotator cuff injuries, Osteoarthritis and knee conditions, tendon and ligament tears, and neurological disorders including spasticity and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Specific procedures that CROM physicians perform include spinal injections/procedures, electrodiagnostic testing (EMG and NVC), diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections, CRPS diagnosis, and BOTOX for spasticity and chronic migraine management.

CROM is also a pioneer in Regenerative Medicine; cutting edge Stem Cell Therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma treatments. As the name implies, Regenerative Medicine can help regenerate new, healthy tissue in injured areas where traditional treatments or surgery have not helped. It can treat torn or arthritic tissue including Osteoarthritis, Tendontitis/Tendonosis, Bursitis, and torn rotator cuff. Perhaps most attractive is that Stem Cell Therapy and PRP may be alternatives to surgery.

CROM works closely with Orthopedic Surgeons by helping patients who are not candidates for surgery, Occupational Medicine providers by increasing injured workers’ function so they can return to work, and any physicians who treat patients with neuro-musculoskeletal injuries.
